Mealime Is Closing: How to Save Your Recipes and Choose an Alternative
By TastySave · Updated October 18, 2026
Mealime says its app will close on October 21, 2026. If you have recipes or meal plans you care about, now is a good time to decide what to preserve and where to keep your cooking collection next.
This guide distinguishes Mealime's official shutdown information from practical steps you can take yourself. TastySave is one option for organizing recipes, but it is not a one-click Mealime account migration tool.
What is happening to Mealime?
According to Mealime's official closing notice, the app is scheduled to shut down on October 21, 2026, and all personal data will be deleted at shutdown. All Mealime recipes will remain available through Meals Hub in Albertsons Companies store apps and websites, with recipes and meal-planning tools from the same team.
Mealime says you can sign in to an Albertsons Companies account to use Meals Hub, where some preferences and settings must be set up again. Its notice does not promise migration of your saved favorites, collections, shopping lists or meal plans. Check the official notice for updated instructions before the deadline.
How to preserve the recipes you want to keep
The steps below are a suggested manual workaround, not an official Mealime export process. They preserve visible recipe details rather than your account or saved collections.
Choose the recipes that matter
Open the recipes you cook repeatedly and prioritize anything you have customized or annotated. Make a short list rather than trying to migrate everything at once.
Save the visible recipe information
If Mealime provides a supported share or export option for a recipe, use it. Otherwise, take clear screenshots of the ingredient list and every preparation step you are permitted to retain for personal use. Capture multiple screens if necessary.
Bring usable text or screenshots into TastySave
Import supported recipe screenshots or text into TastySave. A screenshot must visibly contain the ingredients or instructions you need. This is not a direct Mealime integration. Learn how screenshot-to-recipe works
Review the result carefully
Check ingredient quantities, units, step order and any details that were cropped or not visible. Add missing instructions manually before relying on the recipe.
Rebuild your cooking workflow
Organize saved recipes in your cookbook, then use TastySave's Meal Planner to rebuild a weekly meal plan from them. Use serving adjustments and shopping lists where helpful. Previous Mealime meal plans are not imported automatically. Explore the shopping listTry the free Recipe Scaler
Is TastySave a Mealime alternative?
It depends on what you relied on Mealime for. TastySave focuses on collecting supported recipe information from links, text and screenshots, then keeping recipes organized and useful for cooking. Its app includes a cookbook, serving adjustments and shopping-list functionality.
TastySave also includes a Meal Planner, letting you organize your saved recipes into a weekly cooking plan. Together with shopping lists and serving-size adjustments, it helps you go from saving recipes to planning what to cook.
Mealime also offered meal-planning experiences tailored to dietary preferences. Do not assume TastySave reproduces every part of that experience. If automatic personalized meal-plan generation or an exact Mealime collection transfer is your priority, compare those capabilities before switching.
| Need | TastySave | Important limitation |
|---|---|---|
| Save recipe information | Yes, from supported text, links and screenshots | Review imported information; no direct Mealime import |
| Organize a recipe collection | Yes | Your Mealime account data does not sync automatically |
| Adjust recipe servings | Yes | Review cooking time and pan-size changes yourself |
| Create shopping lists | Yes | Existing Mealime shopping lists will not transfer automatically |
| Weekly Meal Planning | Yes, organize saved recipes into a weekly meal plan | Not the same as automatic personalized meal recommendations |
| Automatic personalized meal plans | Not established as equivalent to Mealime | Evaluate other services if this is essential |
Other options to consider
Mealime says its recipe content is moving to Meals Hub, which is a natural place to check if you mainly want to keep discovering Mealime recipes. If you need a broader meal-planning service, compare current features and export options across alternatives before choosing.
If what you need is an organized home for recipe screenshots and recipe links you already collected, TastySave may be a better fit. Do not pay for a new service on the assumption it will automatically recover everything from your old Mealime account.
Before October 21: a quick checklist
- Read Mealime's official closing notice and check for any updated guidance.
- Save personally important recipe details while you can still access them.
- Capture all ingredient and instruction screens, not just recipe covers.
- Review saved recipes for missing quantities or steps.
- Check whether the alternative you choose supports your actual meal-planning needs.
